Russian (Ancient) Croquet

Dear Ladies and Gentleman, We call your attention to the variation of classic ancient croquet game, called Russian Croquet. This variation was very popular in Russia in former times. And in 1930th - 1950th years the variation gain the very original characteristic features. This is natural, very dynamic and swift game. The game is more fun and pleasure than modern sport association croquet. As compliments to simplicity the game has clear strategic character.

Крокет (croquet) One of the unique feature is a small lawn size (5 x 11 meters, or 16.4 x 36.1 feet). This small size allows to arrange the croquet court on almost any cottage yard. The modern artificial grass covering allows to deploy the court indoors easily, for example for playing in a cold winter time.

The game is played with big wooden balls and mallets, most often made from beech. One percussive side of the mallet is convex – this allows to perform elegant croquet strokes.

The Russian Croquet has a lot of very interesting terms, like the mousetrap, oil, meat, robber, to kill the ball, to be pinned, and some others. If you are familiar with some specific croquet strokes, you can fire admiration both for audience and your adversary. The Russian Croquet does not requires special muscle strength. On another side, the game gives free range for dexterity, adroitness and quick wit.

The modern Russian Croquet has these features:
   - small court size (5 x 11 meters, or 16.4 x 36.1 feet);
   - short play time for one set (30 minutes — 1 hour);
   - number of players — 2, 3 or 4 persons.;
   - persons of different age can play the game;
   - it is possible to arrange tournaments and competitions.
